MCLT Anti-Discrimination Policy
GENERAL HARASSMENT & SEXUAL HARASSMENT
We are committed to providing a productive work environment free from intimidation or harassment of any kind based on sex, race, color, sexual orientation, religion, age, disability, veteran status, marital status or other factors protected by the law. Harassment has no place in the work environment, is inconsistent with good business practice, and is illegal under state and federal law. Violations of this policy will not be tolerated. Anyone engaging in such activity is acting beyond the scope of any authority they have from Maui Coastal Land Trust. Any manager who is made aware of a complaint of harassment and fails to take prompt action is in violation of this policy.
Harassment includes but is not limited to ethnic slurs, racial epithets or derogatory jokes. It also includes unwelcome requests for sexual favors. Any conduct of a sexual nature, when such requests or conduct are made part of an individual's terms and conditions of employment, or form the basis for any employment related decisions is unacceptable.
In addition, any type of sexually offensive behavior (verbal, physical, and visual) which creates a hostile or intimidating work environment or interferes with work performance is also considered sexual harassment. In short, communication about sexually explicit subject is simply not an acceptable topic in the workplace and should be avoided.
Individuals who observe or who are subjected to harassment or intimidation should immediately bring to the attention of their manager, the Executive Director, or any member of the Executive Committee of the Board. Maui Coastal Land Trust will respond promptly to any enquiries and/or investigate any complaints. Questions or complaints will be handled confidentially. Any employee who violates this policy or who retaliates or threatens retaliation against any employee who complains of harassment is subject to appropriate disciplinary action, including termination of their employment with Maui Coastal Land Trust.
REASONABLE ACCOMMODATION OF DISABLILITES
Maui Coastal Land Trust will make reasonable accommodations for the known physical or mental disabilities of an otherwise qualified applicant or employee.
