Helen Nielsen, President
One of the original founders of the Land Trust, business owner Nielsen is active in many of Maui's community projects, along with her husband Jonathan Starr. She divides her time between Wailuku and her energy-independent home in Kaupo.
Mike Foley, Vice President
Retired Director of Planning for the County of Maui, Mr. Foley moved to Maui in 1998 after serving as planning director for the cities of Davis, Napa and Sausalito, California. He is a board member of Maui Tomorrow and
Makawao Community Association, and teaches geography at Maui Community College.
Janice Lau Fergus, Treasurer
Ms. Lau brings a wealth of accounting experience to MCLT and presently works as Controller/Treasurer at Fergus & Co. in Kahului. She has served as a senior accountant at Ernst & Young and Vice President of Finance for ten years at Crazy Shirts.
Fred Langille, Secretary
As retired COO of National Jewish Hospital in Denver, past president of Privatization Partnership Division of Policy Studies, Inc, and former Director of State Planning, Colorado Office of State Planning and Budgeting, Mr. Langille brings a wealth of executive and operational experience to the board. He now resides in Huelo.
Susan Bradford
Professional counselor and owner of Employee Assistance Program of Maui, Ms. Bradford is a longtime board member for the Kihei Community Association and is a veteran of many ad hoc coastal preservation campaigns.
Lucienne de Naie
A leader in local environmental organizations, Ms. de Naie is well versed in the history and present condition of planning and preservation issues in Maui County, and serves on several boards and county commissions.
Bob Horcajo
Mr. Horcajo joined the executive board of directors after long service on our lands committee (which he now chairs). A native of the islands with an established career in real estate, he owns Wailuku-based Kama'aina Properties, Inc.
Mimi Hu
Mimi Hu is the partner and principal of Levin & Hu, LLP, CPAs. Mimi has a broad base of knowledge and experience in auditing, accounting, income tax planning, compliance, financial advisement, and business consultation. She has been a licensed CPA in the State of Hawaii since 1989 and has held securities licenses and real estate license in the past. Mimi serves on the Board of Directors in a number of organizations in the local community.
William Kamai
A Maui native with roots in Waihe'e and 25 years of experience in the building trades, Mr. Kamai is currently the Union organizer for the Hawaii Carpenter's Union.
Susan Kean
A talented artist, Ms. Kean has owned her successful business, Fine Art Tile, for thirty years. As an avid hiker and plein air painter, she is passionate about nature and the land. Ms. Kean serves as a board member for Book Trust Maui and volunteers with Hospice Maui.
Judy McCorkle
A recently retired principal of the FIM Group, Ms. McCorkle is a long-time community professional who has donated countless hours to make Maui a better place. Her skills as a financial investment manager and enthusiasm for the environment aid our mission immensely.
Mike Newbro
Mr. Newbro is a real estate developer specializing in contamination clean-up of commercial sites, as well as land entitlement work. He lives in Paia with his wife and son and has family roots throughout the islands for over five generations.
George Paresa, Jr.
With deep roots in the Waihe`e community, Mr. Paresa brings a strong commitment to the preservation of Maui. Following a childhood on Maui, he had the opportunity to live on the east coast and see firsthand how critical it is for land trusts to protect and preserve the rapidly changing landscapes. He now lives and works in Wailuku.
Mitch Silver
A professional photographer, Mr. Silver has a strong technical background in web design, video production, and data bases. He is also a longtime board member of the Kula Community Association.
Jennifer Stites
As Dowling Company's Green Development Manager, Jennifer is passionate about maintaining balance between smart, sustainable development and land conservation on Maui. She is a Harvard Club of Maui and Sustainable Living Institute of Maui (SLIM) steering committee member.
Steve Still
Formerly the managing director of Sports and Recreation Services for Vail Resorts Inc., and more recently the first general manager of the Maui Ocean Center, Mr. Still is now a broker with The Wailea Group.
