Simple Ways to Leave a Bequest
to Maui Coastal Land Trust
As you think about planning your estate, please keep in mind that it can be easy to include a legacy to the Maui Coastal Land Trust as part of your estate planning, whether as a gift during your lifetime or at the time of your death by including a provision in your will or in your trust. The legacy can be completed in the form of cash or real or personal property. Below are examples of language that can be included in you will or in your trust if you wish to leave a generous gift at the time of your death:
- If you would like to leave a percentage of the residue of your estate:
"_______ % to the Maui Coastal Land Trust, whose address is currently P.O. Box 965, Wailuku, Hawaii 96793, as an unrestricted charitable gift."
- Bequest for a specific amount:
" $ _____________ (___________ Dollars) to the Maui Coastal Land Trust, whose address is currently P.O. Box 965, Wailuku, Hawaii 96793, as an unrestricted charitable gift"
- Bequest of specific property**:
"The property located at _________________________, and identified by Tax Map Key No. ___________, to the Maui Coastal Land Trust, whose address is currently P.O. Box 965, Wailuku, Hawaii 96793, as an unrestricted charitable gift. [This example is for real property but can also be used for assets such as "100 shares of XYZ Corporation" or "my 9 X 12 oriental rug"].
• If a gift is made through a trust, then the language above should include the phrase "outright and free of trust".
